Sacramento vs. San Jose
So the long awaited rematch between the San Jose crew and the crew from Sactown went down last weekend. Props to EZ and Robby for setting the event up. Thanks Robby for getting the shirts and coordinating everything on our end. The teams have gotten bigger and the competition more fierce. Here are the participants (Chuie and Nez are not pictured)
So for the first round Frosty and I played Pat and Collateral Phamage. Now I don’t know what it is about Whitney Oaks and Pat but he seems to own that course in the morning rounds. I played like shit and so did Frosty. So unable to match the superior length that Pat has Frosty and I took at 5-4 ass raping. The shot of the round was Chuie sinking a 1,000,000 foot snake on 18 to make birdie and preserve a tie for Team Sactown. At the end of the first round the San Jose crew was up 4-3. Here are the individual match break downs.

Round 2 got off a little later then anticipated and Robby was exhausted from having to scramble straight from the first round and struggled in the beginning of the second round. We were reminded that we took my first 3 shots on the first hole by Wanga who really wanted to win this match because him and MTC felt they let one get a way the last time we played them. In the end everything that went right for Robby and I in August went wrong on this round. During the Scramble portion we hit bad shots at the same time, and during the alternate shot we just didn’t compliment each other well and gave ourselves way to many penalties. Robby didn’t play as well as I know he can, but I flat out licked balls, so I blame that match loss on myself. I am very much looking forward to a rematch to prove that the first time we beat them wasn’t a fluke. In other second round news the upset of the tournament occurred when Dabu and Chuie beat Pat and Teddow. Also Kungo won his first match in the history of these events so he got off the shelf and had momentum going into round 3. Also in this round Scott made a great strategic decision by getting Shoulder and Unsmizzy fucked up at the beginning of the round and more so throughout. It ended in the Scott and Phamage team winning the round, four people not remembering much about it, and it ended in Phamage GHOSTRIDDING THE WHIP into the Marshalls cart. I only wish I could have actually been there to see it. Anyways here are the results for Round 2.

So after Round 2 the score is San Jose up 7.5 – 6.5. The quote of the first day came at night from EZ to my mom. He told my mom that his family let him down because he lost with Scott in the first round, and he lost the second round with his dad. To which my mom replied that she heard both Scott and Daddy-O had won their other matches so there must be some common denominator to what had happened in both of EZ’s matches.
Round 3 had many interesting match-ups after the post Day 1 changes. Some highlights were:
- Battle of the 0-2 captains
- Battle of the Dads
- Battle of the Long White Guys
- Battle of the Elder Miura’s vs. Oshidari’s
In the battle of the 0-2 captains it wasn’t really a battle. Robby smacked up EZ 7-6 so EZ was driving around checking up on things (more on that later) In the battle of the dads it was a close match for a while, but Mr. Kato ran off 5 straight pars and that basically ended the match. In the battle of the Long White Guys it was an epic battle of titans that I think would have been fun to watch as both these guys kill the ball off the tee. In an up and down affair, Whitey took control when he hit a great golf shot on the 223 Yard Par 3 putting a stiff one about 3 feet from the pin. Believe it or not, he would make his birdie. He then birdied 17 to end the match. Not much is significant about the Miura V Oshidari match ups except that I played in one and the other ended in a tie. There was some drama in the Dabu vs Jon match because Dabu thought he had Jon on the ropes and was ready to put him away when Jon hit his pitching wood off the tee into a buried lie, but then Dubs ran over Jon’s ball with the cart giving him a free drop which pissed Dabu off and he lost his mental focus for a bit which let Jon back in the match. Dabu then had another chance to win the match but he missed a 4 ft put to win. In my match Nate dog is a better ball striker then I am (this seems to be a recurring theme) but he gave away some shots too. I just tried to do my part and get to the green in one shot above regulation. So I was able to do this for the most part, and once I got close to the greens everything that was going wrong for me on Saturday went right on Sunday. My chipping was pretty good for the most part, and my putter was on fire on the front 9, throw in a chip in for par on 4 and it gave me a 4 hole lead on the front. So I took that lead and held it through the first few holes in the back, then Nate started hitting some good shots and I started fucking up. I lost holes 12 and 13 and wasn’t really in either hole as all aspects of my game started to fail me. Then on 14 I hit a good drive that kind of got me back on track and won that hole. About that time EZ came by and gave us a scoring update and we realized that the score was really close. EZ counted my match as a win for Sac and Nate proclaimed that the match wasn’t over yet…but it was after I won hole 15.
So EZ comes up to MTC and pleads “We need this man” and I hear he did the same thing to Scott because the other matches had finished up. At this point team Sac was up 2 points overall and with 2 matches to go Team San Jose needed both of the last 2 matches to tie the tournament. With both MTC and Scott up 2 with 3 to go it was looking like a tie was very possible. Then Tak appeared to catch a break when MTC hooked his drive out of bounds but the ball was about 15 yards out of bounds when it took an unbelievable bounce and hit a train track and ricocheted back into play. To his credit Tak was able to maintain his composure and win the hole. After that he won hole 17 to bring the match to all square. To which EZ comes by again to let MTC know just how badly they needed the match and how this is what a REAL MAN wants and lives for (which I am positive didn’t add any pressure at all) to which MTC said just go away man and let me play, to which EZ said ohhhh now I am going to stay and watch Fo Sho. So Tak hits his tee shot which looks good, and MTC hits pretty much the same shot, to find out that both shots went into the water. So on the the next shot with the entire crew up by the 18th green watching the festivities MTC pulls out way to much club and hits one thin which is headed to the parking lot but hits one of the gallery carts and gets saved from the OB. Tak then hits a great shot about 170 yards over the lake to the far side fringe. MTC then hits his chip into a tree so of the bullets he had been dodging in the past couple holes one finally hit him. So after that he chips on to the green to about 15 feet and one shot back of Tak. Tak chips his ball to about 4 feet, and MTC misses his put and Tak can 2 put for the one but he makes it for good measure to secure the match for Team Sactown. Ono who was also down 2 with 3 to go won 16 and 17 to tie his match, and went on to win 18 to take his match even though the final outcome had been decided at this point. So here are your Champions
So after the previous string of defeats, Team Sactown is finally victorious. I think the changes in match ups for the final day led to some really good battles. It will be interesting to see who moves up and who moves down in the ranking for the next tournament in March. Here are the results for Round 3

Here is what we did with our trophy back, Frosty can I get a “It’s Like That Son”
I was looking forward to my rematch with Tsuji as we were both the up and coming players for our respective teams in the last event, but he did the right thing in going to his grandma’s memorial service. I am sure we will see each other again in the future, and again Robby and I want Wanga and MTC again. Right now I would say the hottest player on our team has to be Tac and Teddow the hottest player on Team San Jose. It is going to be interesting to see who shows up in March or if we expand the teams. Also since Scott lives in Sactown but is related to EZ, EZ has declared that Scott can go both ways. Not sure how Scott feels about that but…well…I guess we will just say that Scott is versatile. I am very proud of the way our team played and it is great to get our trophy back. So as promised allow me to close this entry by:
